Learn More: Why Jess’s Story Matters
Gun violence isn’t just a headline—it’s personal. It took away our cousin Jess, a teenage boy with the brightest heart and the biggest dreams. He loved working out, being with family, and lifting everyone around him. He deserved so much more time.
Jess’s story is one of thousands in the Chicagoland area, but I’m sharing his because it shouldn’t be normal—and we can’t stay silent.
The Reality of Gun Violence in the Chicago Area
-
In 2023, over 2,880 people were shot in Chicago.
-
At least 94 were children or teens under 19.
-
Gun violence is now the #1 cause of death for young people in America.
-
Nearly 1 in 4 Chicago parents say their children have heard gunshots at home.
-
More than 117 kids and teens were killed by guns in Illinois in just one year.
-
This isn’t just data—it’s real people, real pain. It’s families like mine.
